protesting secrecy denying stymying lyrics
like, “What’s love got to do with it?”
even on the streets
during enfeebled eras
born beneath fisted fingers
telegraphing incapacity
along with grave doubts
while attempting
to sing without sounds
thereby enabling
dark biological powers
hailed in triumphal accounts
having moved from the outer
corners of pursed mouths
likened to heavy vowels
and vocal collapse
virulently under attack
by cataclysmic blasts of toxic air
unable to cling to clarity
admitted only in passing...
